Suzanne Wilson (Musicur Kennels) and Star Beckwith (Five Star Goldens) blended their kennels in 2000 and currently live in Grand Terrace, CA, a small community between Riverside and San Bernardino in Southern California.
Suzanne began showing Alaskan Malamutes in 1976. Six months later she acquired her first Golden Retriever. She showed both breeds for several years, finally deciding that the Golden was more to her liking. She eventually purchased a male Golden from Nancy Kelly’s Golden Pine kennel and began showing in obedience. “Easy” acquired his AM CDX and CAN CD but did not work out for conformation. In 1981, Suzanne purchased the first-born daughter of “Aruba” and “Judge” from the famous Asterling kennel. “Layla” became Musicur Kennels foundation dam, not only becoming a CH CD but an outstanding dam as well and produced Musicur’s first home-bred champion, “Prowler.”
Unlike Suzanne, Star grew up with a Golden named “Mac”. In 1990 Star purchased a female she named “Haley” from Delaur kennels. Haley’s first litter produced Five Star’s first home-bred champions, “Rod” and “Sizzle”, when bred to the famous “Thunder” of Faera Kennels. Later, Star purchased a female from Musicur. When bred to Rod, “Whoopi” produced two champion daughters named “Porsche” and “Jetta”.
And thus the alliance between Five Star & Musicur began….
Through all these years, no dogs have ever been bred without health clearances for hips, elbows, hearts and eyes through OFA and CERF. In fact most of our dogs have CHIC (Canine Health Information Center) numbers. We are very proud that we consistantly produce healthy, happy puppies that grow into beautiful examples of their breed.
